Ryan Young of Charleston won both the Boy's 18's singles and doubles, giving him 13 career Palmetto titles, a new tournament record. The previous record was 12, held by Chuck Hodgin of Sumter between 1970 and 1977. Young still has one year of junior eligibility remaining.  Special Thanks! A special thanks to the players, parents and coaches for participating in the 2002 Wachovia Palmetto Championships. Sportsmanship Awards The Palmetto presented 3 sportsmanship awards during the awards ceremony Friday, June 7. The Tiger Hustle award was presented to Amanda Malatek in the Girl's 12's. The Matthew Strange Memorial Sportsmanship Award was presented to Alex Hand in the Boy's 12's. The Malloy Evans Memoiral Sportsmanship Award went to Moutray McLaren who participated in the Boy's 18's.  Donovan wins Dunlop Scholarship Erin Donovan of Lexington was named the recipient of the 2002 Dunlop Scholarship at the 18's party Monday evening in Belton. The scholarship was presented by Steve Zalinski of Dunlop. Zalinski, a long time Palmetto friend, was honored as the 2002 PalmettoHonorary Chairman Award.  Good luck at Southerns! The Palmetto wants to wish all South Carolina junior players good luck in the Southern Closed Championships scheduled for June 15-22 in Columbia, S. C., Macon, Georgia, Atlanta, Georgia and Little Rock, Arkansas. We know you will represent South Carolinawell on and off the court!
